The awarding of scientific degrees and academic titles is an important stage in the life of every person who has decided to devote their life to scientific, research and/or teaching activities. This process is carefully regulated by legislation on higher education and scientific activity, which sets out clear requirements and procedures for obtaining scientific degrees and academic titles.
The awarding of scientific degrees and academic titles is regulated by the Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018.
Awarding of academic degrees and titles

1. Scientific degrees, art degrees and professorial titles:

If the doctoral dissertation or the achievements specified in Article 219 of the conditions for awarding the academic degree of Doctor Habilitation cover scientific issues in several disciplines, the specific discipline for which the degree of Doctor Habilitation or the degree of Doctor Habilitation is awarded is indicated.
If it is not possible to specify a specific discipline, the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree is awarded in a scientific field.

Requirements for the award of the degree of Habilitated Doctor
Article 219 of the Law on Higher Education and Science sets out the requirements for the award of the degree of habilitated doctor.
Criteria for obtaining the degree of Habilitated Doctor
The individual must have a doctorate degree and scientific or artistic achievements that include:
A scientific monograph published by a publishing house included in the relevant list.
A series of thematically related research articles published in scientific journals or peer-reviewed proceedings of international conferences.
An original design, construction, technological or artistic achievement.
Demonstration of significant contribution to the advancement of a particular discipline is required.
In addition, the individual must demonstrate significant scientific or artistic activity that is carried out at more than one university, scientific institution or cultural institution, including foreign ones.
Collective achievements. Achievements may be part of a collective effort, but must include the individual contribution of the person applying for the habilitated doctorate.
Classified information. The obligation to publish does not apply to achievements whose subject matter is protected by classified information.
